The loads I pulled out of manuals 30 years ago are gone; the most current manuals tell me that the 7×57 Mauser now lags about 200 fps behind the 7mm-08 Rem. This is based on pressures now considered safe in older actions, not on case capacity, and not on working pressure in modern actions.

(aka my most accurate loads are very near max 7mm-08 loads. Varget did ok for me. Nothing special to write home about. Decent powder, decent accuracy. Same with IMR 4350. Really do NOT like CFE223!!

I prefer 42 gr H4895 with 140 gr Nosler Accubonds and/or Partition and gotten devastating results on south LA whitetail. The Accubond load shoots 1” groups @ 100 yds and drop 2.5” at 200 yds. I’ve used 41 gr of Varget with similar results. ^^^ that is the exact data I am using. Trying it out in my 6.5 CM loads. Working on the start of load development for it now.
